Bachiller Drives Battery Recycling with Its Vacuum Drying Technology
In a context driven by the exponential growth of electric vehicles and the transition towards a more sustainable economy, battery recycling has become one of the key challenges for the industry. At Bachiller, we have spent years developing advanced technological solutions designed to support this process in an efficient, safe, and sustainable way. Our range of vacuum dryers has proven to be an optimal solution for processing materials generated during battery recycling operations, particularly in critical stages where solvents, moisture, and volatile compounds must be removed under controlled conditions. Thanks to vacuum technology, these drying processes can be carried out safely while separating solids from solvents with precision for reuse, improving overall process efficiency.
Bachiller has gained solid experience in this sector through the extensive testing activities carried out at our Test Center. Over the years, we have successfully worked on several key applications related to battery recycling, validating our technology under real operating conditions. One of the most relevant applications has been the recycling of black mass, a complex material recovered from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries consisting of a concentrated mixture of metal compounds—predominantly oxides—containing lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese, along with graphite and other residual cell components. Our vacuum drying technology has demonstrated excellent performance in handling these sensitive materials safely and efficiently. We have also conducted trials focused on the recycling of NMC cathode production scrap, helping manufacturers recover valuable raw materials generated during battery manufacturing processes.
In addition, Bachiller has participated in projects involving the recycling of pre-shredded batteries, where the treatment of heterogeneous and potentially hazardous materials requires robust, reliable, and highly controlled process solutions. These empirical tests carried out in our Test Center have confirmed the effectiveness of our vacuum drying systems in the treatment of complex battery recycling materials. The results obtained demonstrate not only high process efficiency but also safe operation and adaptability to the demanding requirements of the battery recycling industry. Beyond process performance, vacuum drying technology also plays an important role in sustainability. By improving solvent recovery, minimizing emissions, and facilitating the recovery of valuable materials, vacuum dryers contribute directly to reducing the environmental impact of battery recycling operations. This aligns perfectly with the growing global demand for cleaner and more circular industrial processes. At Bachiller, we are proud to contribute to the development of more sustainable industrial solutions and to support our customers in optimizing their recycling processes through innovative and reliable technologies.
