Contactless, objective, digital – OWL EYE® revolutionizes inventory and process monitoring in the bulk materials industry Precise inventory data forms the foundation for safe operations, reliable stocktaking, and a stable supply chain in the bulk material industry. Yet in many facilities, volume and inventory measurements are still based on manual surveys, experience-based estimates, or simplified calculations.

With the OWL EYE® System Sachtleben Technology provides a fully fledged digital solution, measuring bulk material contactlessly and in real time. The collected data then becomes automatically analysed and visualized in a user friendly-dashboard. Contactless Volume Measurement in Real Time A continuous, sensor-based (LiDAR) 3D capture of stockpiles, bins, or bunkers is working at the core of the system. High-resolution measurement data is used to generate a digital twin of the stockpile from which volume, mass, and geometry are calculated with precision. The measurement process is entirely contactless—independent of material type, weather conditions, or dust levels. The result is an objective inventory assessment without manual intervention.

Employees no longer need to enter hazardous areas, climb stockpiles, or perform risky measurements. Occupational safety is significantly improved while measurement accuracy is enhanced at the same time. Digital Stockpile Management with Age Tracking and Quality Integration The OWL EYE® dashboard visualizes captured inventories as a digitally generated 3D stockpile model. Intelligent colour coding - based on fill level, material age, or quality parameters - makes changes in inventory immediately visible and fully transparent. Time histories, volume changes, as well as inbound and outbound flows are automatically documented, allowing material movements and turnover rates to be clearly analysed.

With integrated age tracking, every incoming material batch is time-stamped and digitally recorded. This makes it possible to precisely identify the material age within different areas of a stockpile. In combination with stored quality data, this enables targeted, data-driven control of reclaim processes—for example according to FIFO principles or quality-based criteria—particularly in demanding applications such as copper smelters, sugar plants, salt storage facilities, wood chip yards, and industrial minerals operations. Industrial-Grade and Versatile OWL EYE® is successfully deployed across a wide range of industries, including copper smelters, sugar plants, wood and biomass storage, salt facilities, as well as stone and industrial mineral operations. The system’s robust design ensures reliable measurement results even under harsh environmental conditions.
