Since its foundation in 2018, ESy-Labs has established itself in the chemical industry with a focus on organic as well as inorganic electrosynthesis and electrochemical recycling of residual materials. Statistical and software-supported methods in experimental design and process development as well as the application of innovative materials and processes based on electrolysis in the technological areas of electroorganic synthesis and up- and recycling are the unique selling points of ESy-Labs.
As ESy-Labs sees itself as a bridge between laboratory development and industrial application, particular attention is spent to process development using ESy-Screening and the scaling of electrochemical processes is based directly on this. This means that quantities from a few grams to a few tons per year can be realized at ESy-Labs. The latter is often realized in demonstrators.
Besides the development of diverse B2B projects for metal recovery or conversion, ESy-Labs submitted patent applications for a) the recovery of zinc from a hot dip coaters waste stream, b) copper recycling and Fe/Al-upcycling from waste incineration bottom ash as well as c) black mass conversion for the production Li2CO3, Copper, Fe-/Al-phosphates and hydroxides and Ni-, Mn-, Co-hydroxides.
