E-Waste worth RM14.7mln has been picked up in Kuching by Sarawak GOF

On the 17^th of March 2025, The SARAWAK General Operations Force (GOF) collected RM14.7 million worth of e-waste from Kuching. This collection weighed 525.45 tonnes.

This seizure was part of ‘Op Hazard Sarawak’ and it involved the Department of Environment and Padawan Municipal Council. This department was led by Sarawak Brigade Commander SAC Dr. Che Ghazali Che Awang.

It has been stated that a total of nine individuals were arrested during the three raids, these individuals included a woman and a foreigner who were aged between twenty-six and fifty-five.

On top of this, the GOF also collected three shipping containers, along with three heavy vehicles and finally, a range of other machinery.

Between January to March 17^th of this year (2025), the GOF Sarawak Brigade has so far recorded seizures which reached a total of RM197.3 million.

Altogether, a total of 186 people have been arrested, which included 137 locals, as well as 49 foreigners. It has been made clear that this is the second operation to crack down on premises that are focused on processing electronic waste, without a permit.
