E-Stewards and Bloom ESG begin partnership for the launch of an ‘Environmental Benefits Calculator’. This will provide electronics recyclers and refurbishers with a method for measuring environmental benefits. The scientifically verified process will begin with one of the most critical but important metrics – avoided carbon emissions.

The ISO-approved methodology, endorsed by E-Stewards aligns with their commitment to fostering transparent, nongreenwashed environmental reporting. The company has claimed that the electronics recycling sector lacks a standardised, verifiable process to measure Scope 1-3 & Scope 4 emissions. Without Industry-approved methodology leads to e-scrap processors working with non-specialised tools.

The first ten early adopters of this calculator will be eligible to receive it at a discounted rate, and this applies to all electronics recyclers and refurbishers, including non-e-Stewards certified companies.

e-Stewards and Bloom said, ‘The Bloom + e-Stewards ITAD Environmental Benefits Calculator was developed with input from leading e-scrap processors and validated by a globally recognized audit firm. Its independently verified, ISO-approved methodology offers customers insight into the environmental benefits of circularity in electronics recycling.’

‘Future versions of the co-branded Bloom + e-Stewards ITAD Environmental Benefits Calculator will be expanded to include additional environmental metrics, such as water usage, toxic material consumption, and overall toxicity footprint.’

Daniel Puckett, e-Stewards business director, commented “Until now, our industry has understood the positive environmental benefit of ethical circularity, but quantifying these benefits has been a challenge,” says “We are excited to launch this ESG-focused partnership with Bloom and introduce a tool that sets a new standard for environmental benefit measurement.”

Sebastian Foot, CEO, Bloom ESG, added “We are delighted to partner with e-Stewards, an organization known for its integrity and leadership in electronics recycling and reuse. Their endorsement and adoption of our platform will help bring best-practice impact reporting to a highly engaged audience of industry leaders.”

Bob Houghton, CEO, Sage Sustainable Electronics, mentioned “Large corporations rely on our reporting to quantify the benefits of responsible recycling and refurbishment. E-Stewards endorsement of Bloom ESG methodology validates the environmental impact that is so important to our customers.”

Todd Zegers CEO of the Syracuse, information technology and asset disposition (ITAD) and secondary hardware marketing firm stated “CXtec is very excited to be one of the first adopters of the Bloom + e-Stewards calculator,” “Finally, our industry will have the missing link to individually show our worth to our customers and the world in terms of avoided emissions—the elusive Scope 4. We are in with both feet!”

Curt Greeno, president of  ITAD services provider Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations said “Dynamic is proud to have partnered with Bloom in pioneering this transformative Scope 4 avoided-emissions calculator. For nearly two years, our customers have leveraged this innovation to achieve”.
