Rhona O’Connell has over 35 years’ experience as a metals markets analyst and is a recognised authority in the precious metals sector. She has worked in a number of aspects of the industry, including the mining sector (gold giant Consolidated Gold Fields, including feasibility studies for a silver project and for what became the Northam Platinum mine in South Africa), commodities broking at Rudolf Wolff where she was a major contributor to Wolff’s Guide to the London Metal Exchange, for the World Gold Council, in the equity markets and investment banking. In the latter role she was the Precious Metals analyst at Shearson Lehman, where she was responsible for advising or supporting a range of market participants from trading through equities to corporate finance. She has held Extel ranking (2nd place) in the gold sector, has been the Association of Mining Analysts Commodities Analyst of the year and has a high media and public speaking profile. She joined StoneX in 2019, to build a team of analysts after a number of years working with metals analysts GFMS, latterly managing a team of more than 20. She holds an honours degree in Law from the University of Cambridge.
